And now you’re mine….at least for the duration of this blog that is.
Here we are, one week out from the magical holiday known as Halloween. Since the first of October my kids have been asking, “Is it time yet? Is it Halloween yet?”. While I do share in their excitement, I think there is a certain anticipation and joy surrounding holidays that only children possess. I can’t help but relate to Halloween thru music. I am a huge music buff, and my all time favorite genre is Blues. Classic, timeless, and artistically personal. So in honor of the upcoming holiday I have donned my black pointed hat, turned up some Nina Simone and gazed into my crystal ball, aptly named Etsy of course.
While the first views were hazy and somewhat fuzzy, I managed to find my first needed item. The perfect addition for all good and bad witches wardrobes. A magic wand of course. I can’t even begin to tell you the excitement I had upon finding this item. Cleverly hidden (from the lurking trolls of course) in a lovely shop called SagePatch. For inside information on more hidden treasures in this shop, click on the shop name and bookmark their blog. This glass wand is available for $9.89.
Of course a magic wand won’t get you very far without a spell book. And I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time remembering all the intricate spells so I prefer to carry mine with me. Luckily I found the perfect shop to transform my spell book into a purse. It’s the best of both worlds for me, as my heart goes faint when I even enter the same vicinity as a handbag. This spellbinding purse is available in the BookEndDesigns shop for $75.00. Be sure to add this shop as a favorite. They offer all kinds of books in all kinds of colors. A unique purse like this would be perfect for the holidays. This shop is offering 10% OFF of ANYTHING in the shop to all AlleyKat readers. And I didn’t even have to put a spell on them! Simply mention AlleyKat when purchasing in order to receive the discount.
While I do love the frilly formal times, I enjoy my down time as well. Sometimes it’s nice to just kick back with the fellow witches and warlocks and sip on some witches brew. For the evenings out we all try have a little fun. It can be hard work donning the pointy shoes and hat. And I have to say, the constant carrying of the wand can be somewhat of a task all on it’s own. For the perfect music loving playsuit we have a Black Magic Woman Jumpsuit. Available at AlleyKat’s for $44.99. Though there isn’t much room to stash a wand or spellbook with this outfit, it is certain to draw a crowd and hypnotize all in sight.
Every good and bad witch has their own talisman of sorts. You know what I mean…Glenda has her Pink Bubbles, the Wicked Witch of the West has her green face..ect. I have adopted this pair of earrings. Made from Vex Bottle Caps the earrings feature colored glass beads and hypoallergenic french ear wires. To cast a serious case of style pick these up in the VintageFairRetroRare shop for only $6.00. Be sure and bookmark this shop as a fave, there are always tons of great vintage pieces flying in and out. This fantastic seller is offering 10% OFF of ANYTHING in the shop to all AlleyKat readers…only good until Oct 31st! So act Fast! Simply put AlleyKat in the sellers notes when purchasing.
For a more formal evening..you know the get the good broom out of the closet kind of evening. I would love to have a vintage brocade bag like this. Although it isn’t quite large enough to stash the wand, a confident witch knows that spells can be cast with the simple twitch of a nose. Something I regrettably must say I learned from my friend Samantha. I suppose I didn’t pay enough attention at school. This black and gold brocade lovely is only $10.00!! AlleyKat readers get an additional 15% OFF ANY ladies purses or doll’s bags. Fly on over to MF Vintage NOW and make sure to add a heart. This seller has tons of great handbags! (Some of which you may have to fight me for…may the best witch win). Offer is valid until Oct 28, so don’t wait! Add a heart to this shop and start stocking up for the holidays!
Even witches follow the current style trends. Vintage lovers we are, and vintage we may be..but we still try to blend in. The current styles lean towards the military inspired coats. Personally I love that, and have found just the perfect jacket to illustrate how well vintage can mix with modern. When the occasional spell calls for a rare item and a trip to the market is in store, grab a jacket like this and no one will care about the eye of newt you are wandering around with. This black boucle Adolpho jacket is available in the Catbooks 1940s shop for $95.00. If you are new to the witchy ways of the world, remember that the air is quite a bit cooler while perusing the skies on a broom. This seller is an esteemed Vintage Fashion Guild member and is a fantastic resource for any vintage lovers. Make sure and bookmark this store for great vintage finds, as well as educational tips.
Since I have been talking all evening about the everyday witchy wear I thought I should illustrate the romantic frilliness for you.( We realize that frilliness is not a word…but we love it so) Of course, we only wear black..except for Glenda, but she is a special case. This dress is available with CaptainCat for $145.00. This shop has one of the best vintage collections on Etsy. Unique finds with wordly style. Created and comprised of three reigning artists, this shop needs to be a favorite for all with an artists heart.
Good witches know that there are all kinds of ways to charm a person. Bobbing for apples always gets a party started. Name that wart is a great icebreaker. Love Potion #9 can work wonders on your love life. But I tend to stick to old faithful. The charm bracelet of course! This vintage lovely comes fully charmed and ready to command attention. Available for $22.00 in the AuntSuesOldNewLovely shop. This shop is chalk full of everything a vintage lovers heart could want or need. Constantly carrying an array of goodies, this shop needs to be on every shoppers favorite list.
Let’s face it. Big tall black pointy hats are a job requirement. It’s part of the uniform and there is no getting around it. The same goes for the pointy shoes. But at least the shoes are super cute..and make flying much easier. I can tell you from personal experience, for some reason the rounded toed shoes make for a much harder landing. These perfectly pointy and perfectly named shoes are available with DaisyToad for $15.00. This seller is now offering 25% OFF of ANYTHING in the shop!! Simply mention this blog when purchasing. Super cute and super stylish..but watch out for those houses, they can really ruin a witches day.
Now it time that I must leave you and and bid Adieu…the moon is howling and the broomsticks are calling. Before I head off for my nightly ride I will leave you all in good company with this classic holiday tale. A first edition with a copyright of 1967. This must have book is available in the Amye123 shop for $80.00.
Have a spellbinding and Happy Halloween!!
